What is the education challenge in Pakistan?

Despite a constitutional mandate to provide all children free access to an education, Pakistan has over 22 million out-of-school children aged 5 - 16. This accounts for 44% of all of Pakistan’s children in this age bracket and is currently the 2nd highest number of out-of- school children in the world.

For  Pakistani children who are able to attend a public school, major hurdles still exist. A lack of funding, infrastructure, qualified teachers, a standardized curriculum, among several other issues prevent children from obtaining a quality education. Unfortunately, this reinforces class and gender inequity. To learn more visit: UNESCO, ICFTE.
