Digital microschools

What is it?

MicroSchools are one-room schools powered by digital learning software which can be deployed quickly in formal and informal settings.

Our average MicroSchool educates about 100 learners, in shifts of 25 each. Our first micro-schools were deployed in refugee camps in Dhaka and Rohingya camps in Bangladesh. We began our program in Pakistan in 2021.

This program is being sponsored by our corporate partners: Arbisoft, Engro, TRG, Ibex, and Afiniti as well as some individual sponsors.

Why are we doing it?

MicroSchools are a powerful, cost-effective and rapidly scalable solution.

Pakistan has 22.5 M children out of school today, largely because of teacher and school shortages. At current population growth, out-of-school population is forecast to be 40 M+ by 2030.

They are intended to address Pakistan’s education crisis and become a model for expansion to the world.

What’s next

We run 8 schools currently - 5 in Karachi, 2 in Lahore and 1 in Badin. With Covid largely behind us, we plan to ramp up our MicroSchools significantly over the coming years.

Our very ambitious plan over the next 5 years is to open 500 - 1000 such schools, to reach hundreds of thousands of students.
