“We strive for a world where displaced and disadvantaged people can live with dignity and have access to opportunities for self-sufficiency.”

— OBAT Helpers

Who are the OBAT Helpers?

OBAT Helpers is a non-profit organization committed to providing support, education and economic empowerment to displaced refugee populations residing in Bangladesh camps. The 1971 civil war between East and West Pakistan gave rise to the independent nation of Bangladesh. Even 45+ years after the end of this war, families in this region still live under harsh conditions in slums and makeshift camps. Half are children under the age of 15 and only fewer than 10% of these children have the opportunity to gain an education and move out of poverty. Many of the older children have to work menial jobs to help support their families.

What do they do?

OBAT Helpers is on the ground at several of these refugee camps in Bangladesh, providing medical clinics, micro-lending programs, schools and job-training opportunities. Since October 2017, OBAT Helpers jas also responded significantly to the Rohingya refugees’ medical, infrastructural and education needs.

What are we doing with them?
