Hussain Dawood has an extraordinary profile as a major business and philanthropic leader in Pakistan.

He is the Chairman of Dawood Hercules Corporation and Engro Corporation. Dawood Hercules Corporation Limited (DH Corp) is an investment holding company with business interests ranging from information technology and financial services to food, fertilizer, chemicals manufacturing and storage, and energy.  Key investments include Engro Corporation--one of Pakistan’s largest conglomerates, DH Fertilizers, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines.

Community and social welfare activities have always been major priorities with Mr. Dawood, both at the national and the international level.

Mr. Dawood is Chairman of the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund – the World Bank's largest microfinance initiative; The Dawood Foundation, one of the largest public charitable trusts in the country; the Karachi Education initiative.

Education has been a specific focus of Mr. Dawood’s philanthropy. The Dawood Foundation has launched major national institutions including the Dawood University of Engineering and Technology, the Karachi School of Business and Leadership (in collaboration with Cambridge University), the Dawood Public School (to provide quality education to girls). The foundation has committed to some 30,000 scholarships in education. 

Other significant contributions were made to TCF School Sheikhupura, Skardu School of Science and Humanities, Mariam Dawood School of Visual Arts, Beaconhouse National University, Lahore University of Management Sciences and FG Dawood Public School in Muzaffarabad. 

The foundation’s recent area of focus is high quality leadership education, and grooming the next generation of business leaders. Apart from this, the Dawood Foundation has made noteworthy contributions in health related projects and in disaster recovery and rehabilitation works.

On the international stage, Mr.  Dawood was the first Pakistani business leader to become a member of the World Economic Forum in 1992. He is World Economic Forum and its Global Agenda Councils of Anti-Corruption and Education

Mr. Dawood was recently honored by the Government of Pakistan with the Hilal-e-Imtiaz, among the highest civilian honors in the country. He was conferred the award The Order of Merit of the Italian Republic  (Italian: “Ufficiale Ordine Al merito della Repubblica Italiana”)  by the Republic of Italy.

Hussain Dawood holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, USA, and is a graduate in Metallurgy from Sheffield University, UK
